It is my pleasure to help spread the word about filing to Alberta.

There is some confusion about which companies really need to file to Alberta. If your company is located or has a branch in Alberta you should file with them. Otherwise, you can still send your Canadian property records to your state of incorporation. 

Reports are due April 30th for all holder types. Alberta has an online filing process which will allow holders to report unclaimed property. Holders may use the web form submission process to report small number of properties or the XML File Upload process to report large numbers of property.

I received an email this morning from New York State Comptroller Thomas P DiNapoli. It contains some good information I would like to share with you.

New York has established a new email address for holder inquiries, This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . This email address will be monitored daily and you should receive a reply within 72 hours.

If you report securities, you'll want to check out the new instructions for delivering securities to the state. You can find detailed instructions here.

It is hard to believe, but spring filing season is just around the corner. I have compiled some changes and announcements that affect some of the spring filing states.

Delaware

Reports are due March 1st for everyone except financial institutions, life insurance companies, and courts.
